When we cut a tree, we can calculate how old it is, whether it is healthy, or whether termites are eating it. By drawing portraits on the cuts of wooden logs, Olga tried to conduct a study of childhood at this moment on our planet. Each stump is a portrait of a child from different parts of the world, and looking into their eyes, you can see a lot about the current state of affairs in the world – there are children who are well-fed and well-fed, and there are completely thin and sick. Such diversity is terrifying and fascinating at the same time. The works were presented at the Kedi Gallery in the city of Izmit as an installation of stumps strewn with empty hunting rifle cartridges. While fighting is raging in Eastern Ukraine and Syria, the artist reflects on the alarming state of affairs, foreseeing even more conflicts and hot spots.
